What Is REALLY Happening In The Housing Market?
16 August 2012

If there is one question that estate agents are constantly being asked it’s this…
‘What’s happening in the residential housing market?’
Of course there is no easy answer. It depends upon where you are, at what time and exactly what data you are seeking to validate.
We asked for a one sentence description of market activity from each of the seven Branch Managers across Thomas Morris and this is what they said…
Lavell Parsons – Sawtry
‘Incredibly busy – our best sales quarter for years!’
Ryan Coyne – Biggleswade
‘Viewings and sales are rather flat’
Alastair Smith – Ramsey
‘We’re certainly busier in August than in July’
Kerry Trow – St. Ives
‘Sales activity is significantly lower in August than in previous months’
Steve Thompson – Royston
‘Very patchy!’
Seamus Smith – Huntingdon
‘August is proving to be one of our best sales months this year’
Karen Keightly – St. Neots
‘New instructions and sales are both higher in August than in July’
It’s clear that there is no consistent pattern to be observed across the region – and across the country. The Current market is indeed ‘very patchy’, lacking in confidence and difficult to predict.
Our advice? Make sure whichever estate agent you use to sell your home has real local experience and is prepared to be straightforward with you about what’s happening in your market.
