Thomas Morris Take You Inside A Foodbank
‘I’m embarrassed to admit that I had no idea that a foodbank even existed in our part of the world,’ says Thomas Morris Sales & Lettings Director Simon Bradbury. ‘And now, I’ve seen one in operation with my very own eyes.’ he explained, ‘It was only when the charity Agents Giving linked us up with The Trussell Trust, who have a 400-strong network of food banks, that I realised just how ignorant I was.’

On June 22nd, Agents Giving Day, Thomas Morris linked up with Estate Agents up and down the country to raise much needed funds and support for a whole range of charities. It was an event that led Simon to actually visit a local foodbank, when he and a colleague dropped off food donations collected as part of an appeal across the Thomas Morris network of seven high-street locations.

‘What impressed me was the detailed organisation that was clearly evident at the food bank including the provision of a “Foodbox Menu Guide” so that recipients could plan their meals with the food that had been donated.’ explained Simon. ‘When we visited to deliver our donations, ‘Peter’( one of the volunteers ) explained the process and allowed us to video inside the food bank itself. It was fascinating and very inspiring.’

The food is weighed in on arrival, and then separated into different food types for various clients around the area. This is the process that is implemented across the food bank network throughout the UK.

In addition to donating at St.Neots, representatives from Thomas Morris also delivered food in Godmanchester (near Huntingdon) and Royston.
‘I was really impressed with the whole set-up at the Godmanchester foodbank,’ said Alastair Smith of Thomas Morris in Huntingdon, ‘they really seem to have it all covered.’

Paul Smith of Thomas Morris Royston agreed, ‘It was a real privilege to deliver much needed food to the local food bank. They were clearly grateful for all of the food that we were able to deliver.’

All in all, it seems that the food donated by everyone via Thomas Morris Sales & Lettings, to local foodbanks, was gratefully received and will be put to good use.
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE that made a donation. It’s clear that your contributions were ALL gratefully received and will definitely make a difference to the foodbanksacross our region and the local people they serve.
