Is St Neots commutable to London?

St Neots is a market town in Cambridgeshire with good amenities, access to countryside and a relatively strong rail connection into the capital. The trade-off is that it is further from London than places such as St Albans, so journey times are longer.
For rail commuters, St Neots is served by Great Northern and Thameslink services on the East Coast Main Line. Direct trains to London King's Cross take as little as 39 minutes on the fastest services, with many journeys taking between 45 minutes and an hour. This makes it one of the quicker long-distance commuter towns north of London.
Driving into London is possible via the A1 and A1(M), which provide a direct route towards North London. In light traffic, the journey can take around 1 hour 15 minutes, but during peak periods it can be considerably longer, especially approaching the M25 and North Circular.
If you prefer a park-and-ride style commute, one of the simplest options is to drive to St Neots station and take the train from there. Alternatively, some commuters drive south to stations on the Piccadilly line or Jubilee line; both have large commuter car parks.
Compared with St Albans, St Neots offers better value for housing but a longer commute. Compared with Bishop's Stortford, it generally provides more affordable property and larger homes, although the journey into London is typically longer and the town is less affluent. Many buyers see St Neots as a good compromise between affordability and accessibility.
Overall, if you are comfortable with a train journey of around 45–60 minutes and want more space for your budget, St Neots is one of the stronger commuter-town options on the northern side of London.
